Hot Takes on the Depth Chart
On the offensive side, there are no real surprises. Many are returning starters and I think Drew Brown will have at least the first series at quarterback. However, will the O-line be able give whoever is at quarterback enough time to throw and open running lanes for Chuba?
I am surprised that Brock Martin beat out Mike Scott at defensive end. Also, Trace Ford at defensive end, from Edmond Santa Fe, will be fun to watch. It will be interesting to see how much rotation we see on interior defensive line with Cameron Murray, Brendon Evers, Sione Asi all vying for position. In addition, Millwood grad Israel Antwine transferred from Colorado where he started all 11 games last season and will be anxious to prove himself.
I am worried about Malcolm Rodriguez being able to shed blocks from offensive lineman after moving from safety to linebacker. With his wrestling history, I do however expect him to be an excellent tackler.
Calvin Bundage who might be the best athlete on the defense did not make the trip to Corvallis due to injury. It will be interesting to see how he fits in the linebacker rotation with Malcolm and Amen.
Who will make plays at safety?
The Cowboys have three starting safeties and it will be interesting to see who makes plays.
Will the cornerbacks be more consistent? AJ Green was preseason All Big 12. He and Rodarius Williams are three year starters but they have been inconsistent in preventing the big play.
Only a few more hours until we will find out the answers.
