Friday Locks Week Three | Sooners Will Cover At UCLA

M. Hofeld

We posted a respectable 10-5 record last weekend. Perhaps it was just blind luck though.

Friday Lock Results
NameLast WeekOverall
Matt 2-1 4-2

UCF (-7.5) vs Stanford | Stanford is banged up and going on the road against a very impressive UCF team who I think will be the Group of 5 rep. again this season.

Alabama (-25.5) at South Carolina | The Crimson Tide should come out and dominate this game. They didn’t cover last week but I don’t think this game is going to be close. Nick Saban will have his team very focused for a road SEC game.

USC (-4) at BYU | I don’t think BYU is very good. USC came out last week and played very aggressively last week against Stanford with their backup QB and won big and if they do that again this game won’t be close.

Iowa @ Iowa State (+2) | The Cyclones looked awful in their opener, but maybe the week off allowed them to sort some things out. I think they win this year’s act-Hawk game in front of the home crowd.

Clemson (-27.5) @ Syracuse | Maryland bear the Orangemen by 43, so I think the reigning National Champs will win by at least 4 touchdowns.

Florida State @ Virginia (-7.5 | I’m taking Virginia to cover for no other reason than I think the Seminoles are awful.

Ohio State (-18) at Indiana | In the first two weeks of the season, the Buckeyes had looked like the team to beat in the B10. Looking to continue the trend with a new face at QB, tOSU has the tools necessary to run through the conference slate. I’ll take the cover in this one.

Maryland (-6.5) at Temple | After last week’s showing, this revamped Team offense will be hard to keep up with. With less than a touchdown on the current spread, this is a no-brainer for me.

Michigan State (-15) vs Arizona State | On paper, the Spartans may very well have one of the best defenses in all of college football. Scoring an average of 40 points in the opening two weeks, I’m equally as impressed by the offense. However, they’ll have the biggest challenge of the non-conference portion of the schedule on tap this weekend with ASU who allows only seven per game. If this is a defensive battle, I’m in trouble. But I simply won’t shy away from picking MSU on a whim here.

Washington State (-8.5) at Houston | Mike Leach seemingly always has Washington State ready to go. I think they’ll handle Houston with ease.

Oklahoma (-23.5) at UCLA | It’s only week three and I’m already breaking my rule of not picking the Sooners. Oklahoma has looked incredible, and the Bruins are yet to win a game. Give me the Sooners by at least four touchdowns.

Iowa State (+ 2.5) vs Iowa | The Cyclones had a mediocre debut two weeks ago. I’ll think they’ll look for a statement win against Iowa. It’s a rivalry game and anything can happen. I’ll take Iowa State with the upset.

Ohio State (-18) at Indiana | I get it. The Hoosiers are at home and coming off a 52-0 blowout win.Do you know who else is also coming off a blowout win? Yeah, that would be Ohio State. Indiana is about to get obliterated by the Buckeyes.

Notre Dame (-35) vs. New Mexico | After struggling to a win against Louisville, in the season opener, the Irish will show no mercy against the Lobos in their home opener.

Alabama (-25.5) at South Carolina | South Carolina is starting a true freshman quarterback against Alabama. I don’t think there’s anything else to say here.
