Setting the Stage
The Oklahoma State Cowboys are off to a solid start to the season as they defeated McNeese State at home on Saturday 56-14 to move to 2-0. Today, they travel up the road to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane.
Tulsa lost their season opener against Michigan State, but the Golden Hurricane rebounded with a 34-16 victory at San Jose State to move to 1-1 on the season.
The Cowboys are a two-touchdown favorite entering today’s contest, but Tulsa is considered an underdog that actually has a chance to pull off the upset, which should make this a good game.

Decent start to the game.
So Chuba only ran the ball 8 times for 44 yards against McNeese State. He’s gonna break 200 for the second time this season easily at this rate.
A 1-play touchdown drive and then a 3-and-out for the defense. That’s about as good as you would want for a start.
Would you say Tulsa is a better opponent than Oregon State?
As one of the only two that took the over on the game, I’m feeling pretty good about it so far.
Spencer Sanders had all day in the pocket on that play. Should’ve been a touchdown, but he underthrew it a little bit.
Chuba is hungry today.
And your Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week is…Chuba Hubbard
That 30-yard TD run by Hubbard really put a dent in his YPC average.
Tulsa’s best play of the game so far was that kickoff return, but of course they get flagged for holding. Also, why does the referee’s mic sound like he’s a roller coaster operator from the 90s?
OK – How many plays does it take Hubbard to score on this drive? I say 6.
I’m not sure how to feel about Oklahoma State’s offensive line, but they’re dominating pretty early so far in this one.
The thing is, Hubbard has such an explosive burst that really you just need to give him a brief opening.
True. He hits the hole pretty hard.
That was a weak personal foul call.
That was solid defense by Tulsa. I thought Wallace was about to make a ridiculous catch.
Complete breakdown on defense. Sheesh. That was ugly. Had a feeling this wasn’t going to be a straight runaway for OState.
That’s just really bad defense right there.
Welp. Spencer Sanders with his first turnover of the season.
That has a heck of a defensive play by Tulsa!
Great response by the OSU defense.
Should probably just give Chuba the ball every time, tbh.
At least until they give you a reason not to.
163 rushing yards in the first quarter seems pretty good.
That was a quick first quarter.
Great defensive possession and fantastic possession. This has to end in a touchdown.
Tulsa is just harassing the mess out of Tylan Wallace.
I honestly thought that was more of an offensive PI than it was on defense.
Wallace yet to make that “Wow” catch. He’s due.
He’s had chances to make it happen…
Disappointing possession, but a field goal is better than nothing, I guess.
Trying to decide if Tulsa adjusted as much defensively or if O-State just changed their play-calling.
Probably a little of both, but more defensive adjustments.
Passing on 1st down is setting up 2nd and long. I’m not sure why they’re moving away from the run.
Big plays for Tulsa are keeping them in the game. That’s twice now the Cowboy secondary has been torched.
Yup, there’s reason to be concerned about the defense.
I would expect this to be a most focused Oklahoma State offensive possession.
Spencer Sanders is looking frustrated on the sidelines.

I saw that. I hate comments like that. Can you not say that about every scoring play ever…?
Very true.
OSU defense is just flat beat right now.
Tulsa is getting whatever they want.
This drive has been surgical in the way they’re attacking the OSU defense.
Cowboys need to answer with a score before halftime.
Couldn’t agree more!
Whatever confidence had been previously established in the OSU defense just vanished.
Only 8 rushing yards in the second quarter for OSU.
They went from dominating the line from both sides of the ball to getting destroyed.
I feel like they are only throwing deep and not looking intermediate. I just don’t get it.
You called it lol
Basically, Tulsa has to resort to pass interference to stop Tylan Wallace. That’s what I’m getting from this first half.
But it’s working!

Gundy better have quite the halftime speech because this has been a pathetic second quarter.
Yeah, they got handled in that second quarter.
NOW the defense shows up…if Oklahoma State doesn’t come out of halftime and score on the opening kickoff of the second half, I will be extremely frustrated as a Cowboy fan.

Accurate
A stop on defense! That’s a good way to start the second half.
