Jalen Hurts was awarded his fifth Big 12 accolade of the season on Monday when he was named as the Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against West Virginia. Oklahoma’s senior quarterback completed 16 of 17 pass attempts for 316 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing 10 times for 75 yards and two scores.
Hurts became just the third OU quarterback (and first against a conference opponent) to complete at least 90 percent of his passes, throw for over 300 yards and throw for at least three TDs. He also recorded a career-high passing efficiency rating of 308.5, which is the best mark nationally this season and the second-best figure in school history (minimum 15 attempts).
This is his second Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor (Sept. 3) and his fifth Big 12 weekly honor overall (has earned Newcomer of the Week three times). Overall it is OU’s eighth Big 12 weekly honor this season. Brendan Radley-Hiles (Sept. 9) and Kenneth Murray (Oct. 14) were named Big 12 Defensive Players of the Week and CeeDee Lamb was the Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 14.
