Setting the Stage
Oklahoma State (5-3) picked up perhaps their biggest win of the season last Saturday as they defeated the Iowa State Cyclones in Ames 34-27. The game came down to the wire, and it was the Cowboy defense that decided the victory as Cowboy linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez picked off a pass from Cyclone quarterback Brock Purdy and returned it for a touchdown to give Oklahoma State the lead for good.
Now, the Cowboys host the Texas Christian Horned Frogs (4-3). TCU has had a similar season to Oklahoma State in terms of ups and downs. The Horned Frogs suffered a loss to Southern Methodist in their third game of the season and then lost again to Iowa State a couple of weeks after that. Last week, however, they picked up a big win as they defeated the Texas Longhorns.
Today’s matchup could be pivotal for both teams and how the rest of their seasons play out. Both teams are working towards becoming bowl eligible, but even more than that, they want to finish out the year strong. The Cowboys are missing Tylan Wallace the rest of the season due to a torn ACL, so today’s game could come down to the defense.
