Under the direction of Lon Kruger, the basketball program at the University of Oklahoma has experienced its fair share of ups and downs. Previously securing a top 20 recruiting class heading into the season, the Sooners are hoping to continue the upward trajectory in terms of recruiting.
On Sunday afternoon, one of the nation’s top targets narrowed down the list of potential schools to four. Making the cut, Oklahoma is featured alongside two other Big 12 schools in Oklahoma State and Kansas. The one outlier remains North Carolina from the ACC all vying for the talents of 5-star guard, Bryce Thompson.
The product out of Booker T. Washington High School located in Tulsa, Oklahoma is the No. 19 overall recruit in the 2020 Class. Touted as a combo guard with the ability to score, Thompson showcased the ball skills necessary to create shots for himself. However, the 6-5 guard is not limited to scoring. Utilizing top tier court vision, Thompson can also create open shots for teammates. With the potential to score at all three levels while involving others makes this prospect a coveted talent.
Establishing a connection with current Sooner De’vion Harmon over the recruiting process, it will be interesting to see where Thompson eventually lands. Regardless of the destination, Thompson will continue to represent the state of Oklahoma well!
