Sophomore safety Kolby Harvell-Peel earned his second Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week award for his incredible performance on Saturday against the Texas Christian Horned Frogs.
Harvell-Peel hauled in two interceptions over the weekend, bringing his season total to 3, and he recovered a fumble as well, his second of the season. He tallied 6 tackles against the Horned Frogs, bringing his season total to 57, which is third on the team for the Cowboys. He also added two broken up passes to bring his season total to 11, which is more than double the next highest on the team.
Only a sophomore, Harvell-Peel has proven himself as a playmaker in his time in Stillwater, appearing in all 13 games as a freshman, and all 9 games so far this season. Last season, he finished 7th on the team in total tackles, and he’s only continuing to improve.
For years now, the secondary has been a weakness for the Cowboys, but with young talent like Kolby Harvell-Peel around, who knows how good they could end up being.
