Quarterback Jalen Hurts has officially become the fifth Heisman Trophy finalists from the University of Oklahoma in the last four years.
Averaging 279.5 passing yards and 96.5 rushing yards per game, and by accounting for 51 touchdowns (tied for the national lead), the Sooners lead the country in yards per play (8.2) and are second in yards per game (554.2) due to Hurts being the operator in Lincoln Riley’s offense.
He’ll be joined in New York City by quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Chase Young of Ohio State, as well as LSU quarterback Joe Burrow who many believe to be the front runner to bring home the hardware.
Hurts joins Dede Westbrook , Baker Mayfield [2016, 2017], and Kyler Murray as Heisman finalists from Oklahoma since Lincoln Riley arrived to Norman.
