Oklahoma needed a little time to get warmed up on Saturday night. For the first time in the young season the Sooners were tested and found themselves trailing George Washington 2-1 going into the fourth inning.
Lynnsie Elam erased the deficit with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the fourth. Her solo home run to left field tied the game at 2-2 and opened the flood gates.
Mackenzie Donihoo scored on a Kinzie Hansen sacrifice fly to left field and then Grace Green brought in Jocelyn Alo and Rylie Boone with a single.
Brooke Vestal drew the start and was responsible for both of George Washington’s runs. She was lifted in the third for Macy McAdoo who picked up her first win of the season after tossing 2.1 innings without a hit.
Senior hurler Shannon Saile took to the circle in the sixth and fanned five batters, without allowing a hit, over the final two innings to secure Oklahoma’s 5-2 victory.
