Sophomore Wyatt Olds improved his season record to 4-0 and the Sooners turned a tight 4-3 game into a 10-3 rout with six runs over the seventh and eighth innings.
After Dallas Baptist plated three runs in the top of the sixth to tighten things to 4-3, Oklahoma widened the gap in the bottom of the seventh, thanks in part to a three-run homer by Diego Muniz.
Oklahoma added two more runs in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a 2-RBI double from Conor Mckenna. Any idea of a Patriot rally was squelched after that.
Olds left the mound after the fifth, having allowed just two hits and striking out seven batters. The three relief pitchers struck out a combined six batters after that. All of DBU’s runs came in the sixth inning with junior Zack Matthews pitching.
The Sooners (10-3) are back home again on Wednesday night against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
