Thunder-Jazz Matchup Postponed, NBA Season Suspended

Thunder fans were thrown into a whirlwind of shock on Wednesday evening as they saw their team’s matchup with the Utah Jazz come to a halt literally seconds before tip-off.

With fans in the stands ready for the game to begin, both teams were sent to their benches only to then be sent to their locker rooms, immediately followed by the officials for the game. After about a half hour of waiting, it was announced over the PA that the game was postponed and would be moved to a later date.

The purpose for the postponement is undoubtedly a result of the rapid spread of COVID-19, also known as the coronavirus. Shortly before the game started, it was announced that Rudy Gobert and Emmanual Mudiay were both out due to illness. This is ironic considering that two days ago Gobert made a joke at a media scrum by making a point to touch every mic and recorder in front of him.

There is plenty of speculation as to whether Gobert and/or Mudiay are in fact infected with COVID-19, but for now, there has been no confirmation either way.

**UPDATE**

Rudy Gobert has in fact been infected by COVID-19.

Now, the NBA season has been suspended altogether with no start back date in sight.

While we wait for NBA basketball to start up again, we should all take a moment to wash our hands.

Seriously.

Wash them.
