The nation’s top-ranked quarterback for the class of 2021 has his schools of choice narrowed down to five. However, most recruiting experts feel that his decision is really down to just Oklahoma and LSU. If that’s true, then Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron isn’t going to like reading Gonzaga High School’s (Washington D.C.) Caleb Williams’ latest SI blog post.

In it he discusses going over various plays with Lincoln Riley and then passing them on to his high school coaches.

Me and Coach (Lincoln) Riley got on another call Sunday. We just talked about the day and the pandemic that we’re all going through. We obviously also talked ball. He brought up a few clips and I wrote a few things down. I actually sent some of those things to my offensive coordinator because as you know Coach Riley is a great offensive mind so why not implement the things I’ve learned.

Williams went on to say that he’s already taking some coaching advice from Coach Riley on how he can improve his game through his final season of high school.

We talked about ball and a few route concepts. We just chopped it up. These colleges that I’ve been to, we always ask the question of — what can I get better at doing? On the most recent visit, Coach Riley told me to be more rooted in the pocket. Obviously this year I was way more athletic than I had been in the past couple years playing at Gonzaga.

With that information from Coach Riley, especially him being who he is and what he’s done in the past with his quarterbacks, I take that into account and I’ve been working on that. Having that Tom Brady style in the pocket, with him being so rooted in the pocket. He’s super smart and on top of his game since he can’t really do those other things that Russell (Wilson), Deshaun Watson and those more athletic quarterbacks can.

Williams did mention that he had been in contact with all of his top schools over the weekend but if you’re an Oklahoma fan you can’t help but be excited to hear about how Riley is already influencing him.

247Sports lead expert Steve Wiltfong has accurately predicted where 90% of the 2,643 high school players he’s covered are going to play. He currently has Oklahoma as a heavy favorite for Caleb Williams. After reading this week’s blog post I would think that everyone else would agree with him.
