Oklahoma Sooners Make Cut For Three Different Defensive Targets

The Oklahoma Sooners remain in the hunt for one of the nation’s premiere prospects. Knowing Caleb Williams is attempting to lure top tier recruits to the same destination, are a few of the targets starting to bite? It appears so as several talented players narrowed down their lists to a select handful of schools.

Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge trimmed the potential number of landing spots to eight. While most lean toward the PAC-12, there are a couple of outliers including Oklahoma. As a defensive end, the Portland native recently took a liking to football. Skyrocketing through the recruiting rankings, Rawlings-Kibonge shows an unrivaled explosive off the edge. However, experts believe the 6-7 strong side defensive end is headed to Arizona State.

Second on the list is none other than Kendal Daniels, an in-state target for the Sooners. Long and rangy at the safety position, the prospect is long believed to be headed to Norman. Yet, Daniels has the versatility to fill several roles on the defensive side of the ball. This one kid appears to fit the mold that Alex Grinch is looking for on the backend of the secondary.

Last but certainly not least, Clayton Smith is the highest rated player on the list today. No. 61 on 247Sports list of 2021 prospects, Smith is a highly sought after linebacker. Including an eclectic group of destination in the top six, many believe Smith will end up in Austin. A consistent tackler with the ability to pass rush, the linebacker would be a welcomed addition to any locker room.
