Rating players from across the country, Rivals recently updated the recruiting rankings. For the first time this year, Mario Williams tacked on the elusive fifth star while checking in at No. 12 overall in the class of 2021.

Dishing out an assessment, Mike Farrell said, “Mario Williams is an electric receiver who will be a nightmare from the slot with his ability to get a clean break off the line and his explosive route running. He is a Christian Kirk-type who plays bigger than his size.”
The news is welcome by the Oklahoma Sooner fan base as Williams has been tied to Norman for some time by the experts. More importantly, the receiver also holds ties to quarterback, Caleb Williams — the most coveted uncommitted recruit of the class.
At the current point in time, Mario Williams holds offers from 35 different universities. A priority target for Dennis Simmons and the OU coaching staff, will the newly dubbed 5-star verbally commit sooner rather than later?
