Oklahoma State Cowboys Alumni Association Cancels Homecoming Festivities

Many circled October 26-31 as a highlight of the year with plans to celebrate the 100th edition of America’s Greatest Homecoming in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It’s a nationally recognized event that typically leads up to the football contest at the end of the week. However, the Alumni Association announced the hard decision to postpone the festivities until 2021 in an official statement on Monday.

“The Alumni Association understands the yearly return to the campus is a highlight for many OSU alumni and fans,” said Tony LoPresto, Alumni Association board chair. “While we understand this decision will disappoint many Cowboys, we want to ensure Homecoming events can be enjoyed in a safe manner and that the centennial celebration is hosted in such a way that is representative of this one-of-a-kind OSU tradition.”

Siting health concerns as well as leaning on plans to keep students and fans safe throughout the semester, the association believes the celebration is “worth the wait.”

Despite the decision, it is not reflective of what the Big 12 will decide to do with the football schedule in the near future. The full story can be found at Orange Connection.
