Reports | Bonitto & Radley-Hiles Among Sooners Defenders Out Against Baylor

It appears that Oklahoma won’t have its sack leader when the Sooners host the Baylor Bears on Saturday. Sports Illustrated’s Parker Thune is reporting that Nik Bonitto is among the players who will be missing on Saturday night due to COVID contact tracing. The report also suggests that nickel back Brendan Radley-Hiles will be out for COVID reasons as well.

Bonitto leads Oklahoma with 6.5 sacks and 9 tackles for loss on the season. Radley-Hiles’ 26 tackles on the season place him fifth on the team, and he’s also recorded four pass breakups as well as an interception.

Tre Norwood is the most likely replacement for Radley-Hiles. He’s already proven to be productive at the nickel this season, logging two interceptions at Texas Tech.

Bonitto’s replacement becomes a little more complicated with a host of players who could contribute in his absence. Senior Jon-Michael Terry is listed as the backup at rush linebacker on the depth chart but Reggie Grimes, Marcus Strippling, and freshman Brynden Walker are all options as well.
