Gators Losing Top Three Receivers Swings Oklahoma To Becoming Cotton Bowl Favorites

And now another one! On the heels of the news that Florida receiver Trevon Grimes was opting out of the Cotton Bowl to prepare for the NFL Draft, comes word that Kadarius Toney will do the exact same thing.

This really puts the Gators in a bind as they have now lost all three of their top pass catchers, equaling 2,343 yards and 31 touchdowns through the air, with Grimes and tight end Kyle Pitts having done the same thing. That’s more than half of Florida’s total offensive yards through the air this season.

The loss of Florida’s top three pass catchers has also made an impact in Vegas. Even with the loss of tight end Kyle Pitts the Gators were a three-point favorite over Oklahoma in Wednesday night’s Cotton Bowl game but with today’s news of Toney and Grimes opting out the Sooners have become a 2-point favorite over Florida, completing a 5-point swing on the game odds.
