The Sky Isn’t Falling, Oklahoma Is Hitting On More Recruits Than They Are Missing

Yes, losing out on top recruits is both disappointing and frustrating. No, losing out on top recruits doesn’t erase the progress, momentum, and excitement of other top recruits Oklahoma has signed this year.

After losing out on running back Camar Wheaton (to Alabama) and offensive tackle Tristan Leigh (to Clemson) it seems like several Oklahoma fans would rather focus on the latter rather than the former. However, that’s just emotion talking and not the facts. The facts are that Oklahoma hasn’t lost the ability to “close the deal” when it comes to “big name recruits”, nor have they failed to land said recruits. The truth is in the 2021 recruiting class where the Sooners landed a class where 13-of-16 signees are rated as 4-star or better by 247Sports.
