Sooners Trying To Win In Lawrence For First Time Since 1993

Oklahoma at Kansas

It’s hard to believe but none of the current players for Oklahoma weren’t even born the last time Oklahoma won a game at Phog Allen Field House. That’s the streak Oklahoma is trying to break this afternoon when it travels to Lawrence to take on the Kansas Jayhawks.

Leading the series 150-68, Kansas is the only Big 12 team with a winning all-time record against Oklahoma. The Jayhawks are 78-16 against the Sooners in Lawrence.

Austin Reaves travels to Lawrence as Oklahoma’s hottest player. He scored 19 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out five rebounds in OU’s loss to Baylor on Wednesday night. Reaves currently ranks fourth in the Big 12 in scoring (15.9), third in assists (5.3), 17th in assists (5.2) and second in free throw percentage (88.1%).

Just like in that Baylor game, the Sooners can’t afford to be a one-man show today. Oklahoma has had three players score at least 29 points in a game this season. Brady Manek produced 29 points against UTSA (Dec. 3), Austin Reaves scored 32 at TCU (Dec. 6), and Mo Gibson dropped 29 points against West Virginia a week ago today. Oklahoma is the only team in the country with three different players boasting 29-point performances this season. If they all three score in double figures today then the Sooners should have a solid chance at pulling the upset.
