Austin Reaves didn’t score until the second half but Oklahoma was paced throughout the game by sophomore De’Vion Harmon in Saturday’s 75-68 win over #9 Kansas. Harmon was 7-of-14 from the floor and scored a game-high 22 points in the upset. It was the second time in the last three games that the Denton, Texas native has scored 22 points. He posted that number against January 12 and then scored 16 against Kansas State on 19th before returning back to 22 points on Saturday against the Jayhawks.
After being held scoreless in the first half, Reaves scored 16 second half points to help keep the Jayhawks at an arm’s length away. Leading for the majority of the game, Oklahoma also continued to amp up defensive pressure by forcing 12 KU turnovers and coming away with six steals.
Oklahoma also held a 36-25 advantage on the boards and swatted two shots. Led by junior guard Mo Gibson’s 10 points, the Sooner bench outscored the Kansas bench by a margin of 22-13. Gibson was the only other Oklahoma player to score in double figures.
Winners now of three in a row, and four of the last six, OU now faces a big matchup at Texas on Tuesday night.
