What started as speculation turned to rumor and is now a fact. Eric Gray is officially a Sooner. The Tennessee transfer will join former Vol teammates Wanya Morris and Key Lawrence in Norman.
Ironically, Oklahoma didn’t offer him out of high school but the Sooners are certainly interested now. In two seasons with the Vols he rushed for 1,311 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2020 he recorded 173 rushing yards against Auburn for his season-high performance in a single game. His transfer portal decision came down mostly to Oklahoma and Texas with UCLA also having an outside shot.
Among his collegiate honors, through two seasons in Knoxville, are the 2020 Gator Bowl MVP and 2019 PFF Freshman All-American. He absolutely looks to be a “plug and play” addition to whichever team he chooses to transfer to. Let’s just hope that team is Oklahoma!
