Recruiting never stops. Not for a winter storm. Not for a dead period. Not for a global pandemic. No one knows this better than Lincoln Riley. His Sooners are trying to put together perhaps the best recruiting class since he arrived on campus some five plus years ago.
The latest name to be trending towards Riley and the Sooners is Orange, Texas (West Orange-Stark High School) prospect Demetrius Hunter. Rated as a 3-star recruit by 247Sports, Hunter (6-3/290) is the top-rated center in the 2022 recruiting class and the #73 overall prospect from the state of Texas.
With just 10 offers to his name at this point, Hunter’s recruiting hasn’t even started to blossom yet. Currently Oklahoma is competing with the likes of Colorado, Houston, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M but rest assured that by the time the 2022 signing period opens there will be many more offers on the table for the unanimous 2020 first-team all-district selection.
The good news for Oklahoma is the Bill Bedenbaugh was the second coach to make an offer to Hunter, just three days after Arizona State gave him his first FBS offer and nearly a month before Texas A&M rolled in. Hopefully that loyalty and relationship building pays off and the Sooners land an anchor along the offensive line.
