Sooners Pick Up 2022 Commitment From 4-Star Linebacker

Brian Odom strikes again!!! Just two days after the most recent crystal ball predictions had Kip Lewis committing to Oklahoma, the 4-star outside linebacker confirmed that becoming a Sooner was, in fact, his intent. Lewis announced, vis social media, on Friday that he had made his commitment.

Securing a commitment from Lewis is just the latest victory for Oklahoma inside linebackers coach Brian Odom who had also recently landed the likes of Noah Arinze, Danny Stutsman, and Shane Whitter. Adding the 6-1/200 Carthage, Texas prospect to the 2022 class gives the Sooners eight commitments but he’s just the second on the defensive side of the ball, joining linebacker Kobie McKenzie.

At the time of his commitment, Lewis possessed 22 scholarship offers with the Sooners beating out the likes of Arkansas, Baylor, LSU and Texas to earn his pledge. He’s the first 2022 commitment for Oklahoma since center Demetrius Hunter committed on March 2nd. The 2022 Sooner class currently ranks #1 in the Big 12 and #5 nationally.
