Oklahoma Sooners Add 15th Commitment For 2022 Recruiting Cycle

The Oklahoma Sooners earned the commitment of tight end Kaden Helms on Saturday evening. With the announcement via Twitter, the program now holds fifteen verbals from recruits across the country for the 2022 cycle. After 24 offers and four visits, Helms choose OU over the likes of LSU, Michigan, and North Carolina.

Out of Bellevue West, the TE is rated a 4-star prospect according to 247Sports. As the No. 12 overall recruit at the position, Helms stands 6-5 with a frame ready to compete at the collegiate level. Lining up in various positions across the offense, the recruit has experience in filling the multitude of expectations on the field. Something that I’d expect to see continue under the direction of Lincoln Riley. Possessing the ability to add strength and size at the next level, the tight end is an intriguing prospect to watch.

Oklahoma is known for the development of the H-Back position — a versatile position filled by players like Jeremiah Hall at the moment but also others such as Trey Millard and Dimitri Flowers. It’s a vital role in the offense at OU as most plays develop off blocks set by the H-Back lineup at fullback, shotgun power, tight end, wing, slot receiver, or out wide.

Still, it’s a player like Helms that has the athleticism and talent to continue to trend for years to come!
