This Week’s Picks

Craig

BYU at Baylor | The Baylor Bears are one of the most underrated teams in the country if you ask me. I believe they deserve a spot in the top 25. They’ll get an opportunity to earn their spot this week and I think they take advantage of it against BYU.

Purdue at Iowa | The Hawkeyes have established themselves as one of the best teams in the country. The truth is that no one wants to play Iowa right now. I’ll take them to win this one by at least a couple of touchdowns.

Cal at Oregon | I know Oregon is coming off of a tough loss to Stanford, but only being a 13.5 favorite over UCLA at home seems like a steal. I think the Ducks win this one in a big way.

Matt

BYU at Baylor | This is the best line of the week in my opinion. Baylor will bring a physical brand of football that the Cougars haven’t really faced yet and I feel like it leads to an easy cover. I’m also a fan of the over here as well.

Cal at Oregon | How much wind did the Stanford loss take out of Oregon’s sails? That’s the question that will be answered on Friday night. Give me the Cal defense against Oregon, despite traveling on a short week, to keep the Golden Bears competitive in this one. Admittedly I might need a garbage time touchdown in this one to get the cover but I like my chances here.

San Diego State at San Jose State | I’m all for the underdogs this weekend and I’ll start with the Spartans. Traveling on a short week always puts the visiting team at a disadvantage and while I clearly think SDSU is the better of the two teams, I also think Viliami Fehoko and the Spartan defense rise to the occasion here and keep this game close.

Rich

Purdue at Iowa | Purdue has consistently played well against the Hawkeyes producing three wins in the past four years. But, there’s something different about this Iowa team. While the two have statistically solid defenses, the home team is better in virtually every facet of the game. In a numbers game, I have to give the Hawkeyes the nod.

Texas Tech at Kansas | Kansas isn’t going to get on track any time soon and TTU has big play ability. Despite the inability to slow down opposing offenses, this week is different. The Red Raiders should win big.

Iowa State at Kansas State | When taking the field in Manhattan, the Iowa State Cyclones have not fared well with Matt Campbell at the helm. Sporting a 2-0 record, the Wildcats simply have their number. A healthy Skylar Thompson after the week off gives KSU the edge for me. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a win from the Wildcats here either.

Zack

Purdue at Iowa | This spread seems far too thin. Iowa should blow Purdue out at home.

Michigan State at Indiana | I don’t believe that the Spartans are truly worthy of a top-10 ranking, but they should be able to handle the Hoosiers just fine.

Cal at Oregon | The Ducks picked up a huge win over Ohio State in Columbus early in the season, but they haven’t been very impressive aside from that. Still, the Bears have had a bunch of close losses to less than notable teams, so I think Oregon can win at home by at least a couple of touchdowns.
