Oklahoma Football Flashback | The Last Trip To Waco Was Legendary

It’s only been two years since Oklahoma played a football game in Waco, Texas but it’s a game that will be talked about for years to come. The Sooners trailed Baylor 28-3 in the second quarter, 31-10 at the half, and 31-17 going into the fourth quarter. Outscoring the Bears 17-0 in the fourth quarter, OU escaped Waco with a 34-31 win.

Gabe Brkic, a freshman at the time, kicked the game-winning field goal with 1:45 remaining on the clock. His 31-yard kick was his second made field goal on the day and set up a dramatic finish with Nik Bonitto picking off Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer in the closing seconds to close out the comeback.

Most people forget that the Sooners were playing this game without star receiver CeeDee Lamb but Jalen Hurts still threw for 297 yards and four touchdowns while also cranking out 114 yards on the ground. In Lamb’s absence Lee Morris stepped up to lead Oklahoma’s receivers with seven catches for 86 yards.
