Oklahoma stayed in the Big 12 championship hunt with a 28-21 win over Iowa State on Saturday that featured a smothering defensive performance. On Monday the Big 12 acknowledged Key Lawrence, Jalen Redmond, and Michael Turk for their efforts in the win.
Redmond and Lawrence teamed up for one of the biggest plays of the game when Lawrence’s hit on Cyclone quarterback Brock Purdy forced a fumble that was picked up by Redmond and returned 42 yards for a touchdown. Redmond ended the day with 1.5 tackles for loss. His relentless pursuit of Purdy had a significant impact on the game. He recorded four quarterback hurries, and a sack, as the Sooner defense had Purdy running for his life most of the afternoon.
Lawrence recorded seven tackles and two fumbles on the afternoon.
Michael Turk punted six times on Saturday with half of them going for 60-yards or more. Three of Turks punts were downed inside the 20 and he averaged 54.8 yards per punt on the day.
