Austin Stogner Becomes Latest Sooner To Hit The Transfer Portal

As the fallout from Lincoln Riley’s departure continues, tight end Austin Stogner became the third Oklahoma football player to hit the transfer portal in two days. Ironically all three are members of the same recruiting class as Stogner joins quarterback Spencer Rattler and receiver Jadon Haselwood in the portal.

In 2021 Stogner recorded 14 receptions for 166 yards and three touchdowns for the Sooners. It was a bit of a down season for the former 4-star recruit who was expected to have been a key component to Oklahoma’s passing attack. Instead he regressed well below last season’s numbers where he caught 26 passes for 422 yards and three touchdowns. Obviously that wasn’t all on Stogner as OU’s quarterback issues really hampered the progress of the tight ends and receivers. For his Sooner career, Stogner caught 47 passes for 654 yards and eight touchdowns.

Stogner was a member of the 2019 recruiting class that ranked #2 in the Big 12 and #6 nationally.
