Oklahoma punter Michael Turk set Caleb Williams up and it appears as if the star quarterback took the bait. Williams gave Sooner fans lots of good vibes when he appeared in his first public interview since becoming the starting quarterback when he joined H-Backs Jeremiah Hall and Brayden Willis for their podcast. While Williams didn’t come out and say that he will, in fact, stay at OU (he was never directly asked) he did seem to enjoy reminiscing about his first year as a Sooner. It’s a great interview and if you haven’t had the chance to give it a listen then we’ve got it embedded into the post for you.
It’s actually what happened late on Wednesday that should have fans buzzing when they wake up Thursday morning. On the first day of the early signing period, a to of eyes are still on Caleb Williams as the belief is that he is Brent Venables top recruiting priority at the moment. That’s when Michael Turk worked a little bit of social media magic. After announcing that he (Turk) would be coming back for one more year in Norman, Turk tagged Williams in a Tweet asking if the quarterback would actually let him have opportunities to punt next fall. Sooner Nation anxiously waited to see if the True Freshman All American would respond and that’s exactly what he did.
So there you have it. That’s as unofficially official as it gets when trying to read between the lines of a Twitter conversation. It’s enough to give OU fans plenty to hope for as what’s sure to be what seems like an extremely long offseason is approaching. For the record, Williams has said that he won’t make his decision until after the bowl game but perhaps, just perhaps, he gave fans a preview of what his decision will be.
Then again, it could just be two guys playing around on Twitter.
