While there has not been an official announcement from 4-star athlete Jaren Kanak yet various reports have him enrolled at Oklahoma as a member of the Sooners 2022 recruiting class. That would mean that he has officially flipped from Clemson, where he had been committed since July of this year, to OU.
At 6-2/210, Kanak is an athlete who plays multiple positions but has projections to be a star outside linebacker at the collegiate level. That’s the reason why Brent Venables had invested in recruiting him to Clemson. When Venables moved to Norman to replace Lincoln Riley it seemed like it was just a matter of time before Kanak followed him. Now that appears to be the way things have played out.
Kanak’s Twitter account still says that he’s a Clemson commit but records at Oklahoma clearly show him enrolled for the spring semester and 247Sports has him listed as a hard commitment to the Sooners. With 34 scholarship offers on the table Kanak chose Oklahoma over the likes of Alabama, Michigan, and Texas A&M, among Clemson and a host of others. 247Sports has him listed as the top prospect from the state of Kansas and the #6 overall athlete in the class.
His apparent commitment to Oklahoma gives the Sooners a total of 16 commitments with Kanak joining Booker T. Washington’s (Tulsa, OK) Gentry Williams as the only two players in the class who have yet to sign.
