Why the Thunder Will Cover (+9)
Despite the blowout loss in San Antonio two nights ago, I’m still a firm believer in the Thunder against tonight’s spread. The Hornets are one of the worst defensive teams in the league which indicates that scoring opportunities will be available in plenty tonight for OKC. The Thunder are strong on the road against the spread, with a cover rate of 63%, and they cover 67% of the time following a day off. That said, the fact that the Hornets cover the spread 77% of the time at home makes the over/under a bit safer of a play tonight.
Staff Picks
Why the Game Will Not Hit the Over (223.5)
Charlotte is the second highest scoring team in the league so that makes this point total a little more bloated tonight. There are no easy picks with this game but here’s your best chance because the Hornets are playing an OKC squad that ranks dead last in the NBA in scoring, and that’s what we’re going to hang our hats on here. Charlotte is only hitting the over 51% of the time this season and OKC is a dreadful 40% against the over. When the total is greater than 205 points the Thunder are only hitting the over 39% of the time and following a day off, they are hitting the over just 36% of the time. That’s what makes the over/under your best option for tonight.
