Oklahoma took another step closer to a Top 5 recruiting class on Thursday night when it picked up a second commitment on the week and the ninth for the month of July. The Sooners landed 4-star defensive lineman Derrick LeBlanc, who had narrowed his choices down to OU, Florida, and Penn State.
Becoming the 18th member of Oklahoma’s 2023 class, LeBlanc’s commitment moves the Sooners up one spot to #6 in the 247Sports team rankings. At 6-4/270, he’s ranked by 247Sports as the #13 defensive line commitment in the class and the 101st overall prospect for 2023. Tod Bates taking the lead on his recruitment is a clear indicator that he’s destined to play on the interior of the Sooner defensive line.
LeBlanc is likely the final commitment in what has been a hot month for OU on the recruiting trail. The Sooners not only climbed the recruiting rankings but also set the stage for what could be another big recruiting month in August that leads up to the season opener on September 3rd.
