On The Eve Of His Announcement, Sooners Pick Up Crystal Ball Predictions For Colton Vesek

We won’t have to wait long to know for sure, but it looks like 4-star defensive end Colton Vesek won’t be staying home to play college football. The Austin, Texas native (Westlake High School) has set his announcement date for 3:00 PM (CT) on Monday August 1st. Thought to have narrowed his choices down to Oklahoma, Texas, and Oregon, multiple recruiting sites are making predictions that the Texas legacy prospect will play ball in Norman.

Steve Wiltfong, 247Sports Director of Football Recruiting, is the latest member of the “recruiting gurus” to offer a prediction regarding Vasek on Sunday evening. Parker Thune from OUInsider made his prediction on Saturday following a massive recruiting weekend for Brent Venables and staff.

247Sports has Vasek (6-5.5/225) listed as the composite #19 edge rusher, and the #29 overall prospect from the state of Texas, for the 2023 recruiting class. He currently holds 38 scholarship offers and made official visits to Oklahoma (June 10th), Texas (June 14), Oregon (June 17), and Texas Tech (June 24).

Last fall he was named as a Texas District 26-6A first-team selection and was also the Defensive MVP of his team’s state championship win over Denton Guyer with three sacks. His father Brian Vasek was a defensive end for the Longhorns from 1991-1995.
