The long wait for the Big 12’s 2023 schedule will come to an end on Tuesday. The conference announced on Monday evening that it will be releasing the the new schedule, which now includes BYU, UCF, Cincinnati, and Houston who will officially become members of the conference on July 1st.
The non-conference portion of Oklahoma’s schedule has been known for quite some time now. The Sooners will host Arkansas State on September 2nd, SMU on September 9th, and the travel to Tulsa on September 16th. What hasn’t been known is who, and where, OU will play in what is likely to be their final season as a member of the Big 12. Now, thanks to a leak from TCU we know that the Sooners will close out the regular season by hosting TCU on November 24th.
It’s also interesting to note that the Horned Frogs will play at Houston and host BYU, thus likely confirming that each of the existing members of the conference will play just two of the four new members in 2023.
OK – So call your shot. What are you expecting to see when the schedule releases on Tuesday? I’m thinking that OU/Texas might not make its traditional date (second weekend in October) and that there will be no Bedlam. I also think that the Sooners are going to draw BYU and UCF on the schedule, with the road trip being to Provo. Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
