We hit all three of our bets on the Yankee/Red Sox yesterday! We took New York at +1.5, as well as on the moneyline, and we took the under, which was at 10. Those wins place us at 5-1 through the first two days of the week. Let’s keep it rolling by looking at two teams we’ve covered quite a bit through this feature, Atlanta 95-50 and Philadelphia (79-66).
The Pitchers
Spencer Strider (16-5, 3.83 ERA) and the Braves come around at least once a week for us on our random game generator. We last had him exactly seven days ago, on a night where he got roughed up by the Cardinals. Despite that loss, the Braves have still won four other times in his last five starts. He’s allowing an average of just 2.2 earned runs per game over his last five appearances.
The Phillies are going to throw Cristopher Sanchez (2-3, 3.26) at Atlanta’s lineup. Sanchez has faced back-to-back losses in each of his last two appearances, but Philadelphia is still 3-2 in the last five games he’s thrown in. During that stretch he’s allowed an average of 1.8 earned runs per appearances.
The Lineups
Matt Olson has blasted 51 home runs, and knocked in 128 RBI for the Braves, while Ronald Acuna Jr. has a .333 batting average. Atlanta has scored 31 total runs over the last five games.
Kyle Schwarber leads the Phillies with 43 home runs. He also has a team-best 94 RBI. Bryce Harper leads Philadelphia with a .297 batting average. Philadelphia has scored 33 runs over the last five games.
The Streaks
This is the fourth game of the current series between these two. The Braves have a 2-1 advantage here, and have won three of their last five games. Philadelphia has lost three of it’s last five games.
The Odds
Braves -1.5
Braves -165 on the moneyline
O/U 9
This is going to be the second time in a row that I pick against the Braves when we’ve featured them. I had them losing to St. Louis a week ago and I’ve got them losing to Philly tonight. For me, it comes down to Spencer Strider and the pounding he took from the St. Louis lineup. I’m not certain that some of those struggles won’t carry over into tonight’s contest. This means I’m taking the Phillies at +1.5, the Phillies on the moneyline, and I’m going with the over as well.
