Last week Michael Hawkins affirmed that the departure of Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby wasn’t going to change his commitment to the Sooners. The 4-star quarterback then went on to close out his week by helping make history with a six-touchdown performance on Friday night to lead Firsco Emmerson to it’s first ever state semifinal appearance.
On the night, Hawkins completed 21-of-25 pass attempts for 316 yards and three touchdowns, and ran 15 times for 125 yards and another three scores. Friday’s 59-48 victory over Colleyville Heritage gave Frisco Emerson the Division II Region I championship and moved them into the state semifinals to face South Oak.
Hawkins is rated as a 4-star prospect by 247Sports. They have him as the #21 quarterback in the 2024 class and the #56 overall prospect from the state of Texas. He holds 17 scholarship offers and chose Oklahoma over Alabama, Michigan, Penn State and others. He’s been committed to the Sooners since April.
Oklahoma’s 2024 recruiting class currently sits at 27 commitments and is ranked #8 nationally by 247.
