Merry Christmas!
We don’t post as often as we should around here, but when we do, we like to keep it lighthearted, fun, and to the point. In that spirit, I was thinking this Christmas morning about some of the things that I would want to see happen as an Oklahoma fans. These aren’t materialistic things, these are how events would play out to the advantage of Sooner Nation. It got me wondering, though. What would be on your OU Christmas wish list?
1. An Alamo Bowl Win!
Yes, this one is pretty basic. The Jackson Arnold Era begins on Thursday night and it’ll be a much better winter and spring if it begins with a win. The Sooners have a slight edge on Alabama for the most all-time 11-win seasons and I would hate to see them give up ground to the Tide. Beyond that, this is the final representation for Oklahoma as a member of the Big 12. Let’s see them go out with a bang, and have some confidence in the younger guys going into the last offseason before staring next season as a member of the S.E.C..
2. For Porter Mosier & The Basketball Team To Make A Deep Run In The NCAA Tournament
It’s been a hot minute since the Sooners were participants in March Madness. Yes, they’re coming off a bad loss to North Carolina, but they are building a strong resume and appear to be the best squad that Mosier has assembled in his time at OU. Conference play will ultimately tell the story about how good this team really is. However, Oklahoma should take the floor against Iowa State (January 6th) with a 12-1 record.
3. For Oklahoma To Replenish The Offensive Line
Perhaps I’m a bit crazy but I’m not quite as worried about the offensive line as others are. I think there’s talent there, albeit unproven talent. The Sooners need bodies, though. Some of that came through the 2024 recruiting class but the transfer portal can still give after it has taken away. Michigan State interior offensive lineman Geno VanDeMark could be one to take the Norman, Oklahoma exit out of the transfer portal. The 6-5/295 offensive tackle was a 3-star recruit coming out of high school and had 19 scholarship offers.
4. For Texas To Get Demolished In The CFP Semifinal
Yes, we had a nice moment between Longhorn and Sooner fans where we came together to stick it to the Big 12 in the conference championship game. That moment is over! Don’t fool yourself into believing that UT fans will be cheering for Oklahoma in the Alamo Bowl, because they won’t be. It’s back to normal. It’s business as usual. It’s Red River Hatred. It would be blasphemy not to cheer for Washington on New Year’s Day.
5. For Utah To Run Through The Big 12 In 2024
Yes, this one is a bit petty. There are some folks at the university up north who believe that they will dominate the Big 12 after Oklahoma and Texas depart. Then there are those who live in the real world and realize that Cameron Rising is anxiously awaiting the opportunity to run through this conference. I’ll be cheering so hard for the Utes next season to do just that.
Okay, that’s it for me. How about you? What would be on your list?
