Oklahoma was far from perfect in its 4-3 win over No. 10/7 Washington at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge. The Sooners overcame three errors to grind out a win against the Huskies in extra innings.
Rylie Boone provided the go-ahead single in the eighth inning and went 2-for-3 on the night.
Game Notes
– Oklahoma extended its winning streak to 56 games, dating back to Feb. 24, 2023, and now owns the longest winning streak in NCAA history, breaking the previous all-division record held by then-Division II program Western Kentucky.
– Rylie Boone provided the go-ahead single in the eighth inning and went 2-for-3 on the night.
– Kelly Maxwell earned her 60th collegiate win and second in as many appearances as a Sooner, going 2.2 scoreless out of the bullpen with two strikeouts and one walk.
– Riley Ludlam delivered a game-tying pinch-hit RBI single in the sixth inning, recording her first hit in a Sooner uniform.
– All three runs allowed by Oklahoma were unearned, marking 20.0 consecutive innings without an earned run allowed to open the 2024 season.
– The OU bullpen combined for 4.0 shutout innings as Paytn Monticelli struck out one over a scoreless frame, Karlie Keeney recorded a key out in the sixth and Maxwell closed out the final 2.2.
– Nicole May took a no-decision despite not allowing an earned run, tossing 4.0 innings of five-hit ball with four strikeouts.
– Kasidi Pickering went 1-for-3 and scored the eventual game-winning run.
– Alyssa Brito reached base three times, going 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and a run scored.
– Oklahoma improved to 16-15 all-time against Washington.
