Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables announced on his Monday night coaches show that offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett will miss the remainder of the 2024 season. The transfer from Washington underwent bicep surgery earlier this week.
Hatchett started at left guard in OU’s season-opening victory over Temple. He also played center after Branson Hickman went down with an injury. He transferred to Oklahoma in the offseason and worked himself in to a key player on the line.
Hickman, center Troy Everett, and offensive tackle Jake Taylor have all been battling injuries along with Hatchett. The Sooners’ offensive line has been decimated by injuries, and now the challenge to replace Hatchett’s production looms large because it’s a significant blow to the Sooners’ offensive line depth.
