The latest injury report is out for Oklahoma, ahead of Saturday night’s tilt against Missouri and the news is good for the Sooners. For the first time since the season opener, we’re likely to see receivers Jalil Farooq and Deion Burks on the field together. Farooq has been out since suffering an injury in the opener and Burks has been absent since being injured against Tennessee. Now, it appears, that Jackson Arnold is a man of his word after the Sooner signal caller said earlier in the week that they would have some weapons back on Saturday.
“It would be huge,” Arnold said about having Burks and Farooq backs. “Two leaders of our offense, two great pieces at receivers and two of our best receivers that we haven’t had in a while. So it obviously adds an explosive aspect to our offense and definitely that leadership role too. I’m not saying that we need it but it’s great to have those leaders come back. I feel like we’ve had dudes step up in their absence though and I’m super proud of those guys that have stepped up. But having those leaders back is key for that position group.”
Farooq only logged one catch on the season before getting injured, but it went for 47 yards. The story was a little different for Burks who became Oklahoma’s go-to receiver before his injury. Despite not playing since the first half of the Tennessee game, he remains second on the team in receptions at 26. He leads the team with 3 receiving touchdowns.
