His 40 strikeouts rank fifth nationally and second in the SEC. Witherspoon’s performances, including two 12-strikeout outings, have solidified his role as one of the top arms in college baseball.
At the plate, Easton Carmichael leads the team with five home runs and 17 RBIs, while sophomore center fielder Jason Walk has reached base in all 14 games played, hitting .385 with six doubles. Freshman second baseman Kyle Branch has been a revelation, earning Round Rock Classic MVP honors while hitting .462 in the tournament.
Louisiana Tech Looking to Pull Off an Upset
The Bulldogs enter Wednesday’s game at 9-7 and seeking their first road win over a ranked opponent since defeating UL-Lafayette in 2024. They are also searching for their first road win over an SEC opponent since 2023, when they edged out Ole Miss.
Garrison Berkley has been the offensive leader for Tech, hitting .386, while Cade Patterson leads the team in home runs (4) and shares the RBI lead (14) with Michael Ballard. However, offense has been inconsistent, with no other Bulldogs hitting above .300.
Right-hander Kade Parker is expected to start on the mound for Louisiana Tech, while Oklahoma will likely counter with left-hander Cade Crossland. Crossland has recorded 12 strikeouts through 8 2/3 innings but has struggled with control, walking seven batters in that span.
