On a long, emotionally draining Saturday in College Station, the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners did exactly that—finishing a doubleheader sweep with a 6-4 victory over No. 12 Texas A&M to secure the SEC regular-season championship outright.
It wasn’t clean. It wasn’t easy. And by the final out, it certainly wasn’t comfortable. But it was fitting.
Because if this season has revealed anything about Oklahoma, it’s that this team can win in any style, under any circumstances—and on Saturday, they had to prove it twice.

Just a day before, Oklahoma had dropped the resumed opener, an 8-5 loss that saw a late lead evaporate in a chaotic sixth inning. For a team chasing history and championships, it was a gut punch—and one that could have lingered.
