I watched Marquise Overton walk off the field early on Saturday night and took note of his left shoe being off. I had no idea that would be the last time I’d see him in full uniform this season but it’s exactly what it was. What was initially thought to be a minor sprain ended up resulting in Overton having surgery on Tuesday and will be shelved for the remainder of the season.
A 6-1/295 sophomore from Jenks, OK, Overton played in eight games last season as a true freshman. He recorded a sack and five total tackles in those game and had been counted on to be a contributor this season as well. The fact that he played last season means that he has, at the very least, a redshirt season to use and therefore will not lose a year of eligibility.

The rising stock of redshirt freshman Neville Gallimore after last Saturday will help cushion the blow to the defensive line rotation, but you most certainly would prefer that the team be as close to 100% healthy as possible.
