Oklahoma starting left guard Cody Ford suffered a broken fibula on the Sooners opening drive against Ohio State on Saturday night. His injury pours some salt in the wounds of OU’s 45-24 loss to the Buckeyes and will obviously lead to some changes in the line personnel.
The Sooners shifted Jonathan Alvarez from center to guard and brought in senior Erik Wren at the center position. While I would expect to see a few guys get some looks over the bye week, and perhaps even against TCU on October 1st, I also don’t know for sure that they’ll go away from what they did on Saturday night. While OU lost to the Buckeyes, they also produced over 400 yards of offense against one of the top defenses in the nation.
Ford is a 6-3/332 redshirt freshman from Pineville, Louisiana. He was a Rivals 4-star recruit out of high school who chose Oklahoma over offers from Arkansas, Mississippi State, and TCU among others.
