Oklahoma Takes Series With Buffalo With Friday Doubleheader Sweep

After surrendering ten runs in nine innings on Thursday night Oklahoma’s pitching staff kept Buffalo scoreless in a Friday doubleheader. The thirteenth-ranked Sooners etched out a 1-0 win in Friday’s opener off the arm of Austin Hansen who picked up his third win of the season by throwing seven scoreless innings.

In a game where offense was at a premium, Quin Walbergh knocked in Oklahoma’s lone run, and winning score, with his third hit of the game.

The Sooners were able to produce a stronger offensive performance in Friday’s second game, mustering 11 runs on 12 hits. Austin O’Brien, Brylie Ware, and Brandon Zaragoza all produced multi-hit performances, including a 3-for-3 outing from Ware.

Devon Perez picked improved his record to 3-0 on the season by striking out nine batters in a game shortened by the run-rule. Perez threw six innings, allowing just four hits, before giving way to Joey Zurawik to finish the seventh.

Oklahoma, leading 3-0 in the series, will go for the sweep on Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
