Former Oklahoma All-American Buddy Hield is a rising star in Sacramento. Since being traded to the Kings, as a part of the DeMarcus Cousins deal, Hield has inserted himself as a key part of Sacramento’s rebuilding process.
Over the last ten games Buddy is averaging 13.3 points and 3.2 assists in nearly 26 minutes of playing time. With his minutes, and production, already on an uptick Hield will also most likely be the benefactor of extra minutes due to the fact that the Kings will have four shooting guards inactive against the Thunder.
Tyreke Evans is sitting due to an ankle injury. Ben McLemore and Arron Afflalo are out for personal reasons and Malachi Richardson is still recovering from a hamstring injury. This essentially leaves the Kings with Buddy and Garrett Temple as the only options at the two-guard. Temple could also see minutes running the point which leaves more opportunity for Hield to pick up extra minutes.
This will be Hield’s first appearance in Oklahoma City as a member of the Kings but in previous trips, with New Orleans, the kid who made a name for himself just south of the OKC Metro was greeted warmly. I would expect the same on Saturday, and Buddy should have plenty of time on the floor to feel the love.
