A bit of a rough patch for Oklahoma football recruiting came to an end on Friday when 3-star corner Miguel Edwards (Deerfield Beach, Florida) committed to the Sooners. OU had offered Edwards on February 27 and even with Wake Forest, Utah, and Vanderbilt all pressing recently he chose to make his commitment to Oklahoma.

Edwards (6-0/160) is the nation’s 40th ranked corner prospect and the 70th ranked prospect in the state of Florida. He’s received twenty-three total offers including the likes of Alabama, Miami, and West Virginia.

The Sooners currently have seven cornerbacks on their roster and Edwards joins Jordan Austin (Lancaster, Texas) as a corner commit in Oklahoma’s 2018 class. While currently a “hard commitment” for Oklahoma, if there were a team to challenge OU as being Edwards’ #1 then it would be the University of Miami. The Hurricanes initially offered him in May of 2015. Since then he’s made two unofficial visits and attended Junior Day this past February.
