The Oklahoma Sooners sent a handful of talent to the NFL including star wideout, Dede Westbrook. Selected in the fourth round by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Heisman Finalist inked his name to a contract with the franchise. Striking a four-year deal, Westbrook’s dream and goal has come to fruition.
According to Fox Sports, the contract is projected to be worth three million dollars and includes a $700,000 signing bonus. The Belitnikoff winner may have surprised some coming off the draft board in the fourth. Yet it seems like the Jaguars found value where others failed to or simply refused to due to a past.
Regardless, Westbrook showcased an elite skill set on the collegiate circuit. Behind excellent body control and a burst of speed, the receiver caught 80 passes. Tallying 1,524 total yards, the former Sooner scored 17 touchdowns.
While it’s always a risk when drafting a player from the college ranks, it is necessary to sustain success in the NFL. How will things shake out between the Jaguars and Westbrook when it comes to on the field success? Only time will tell.
