The Sooners are set to take the field against Xavier, a program making a fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament, in the opening round. Winning the Big East Tournament, Xavier claimed 1-of-31 automatic bids for the second consecutive year. Rounding out the field, Radford and the No. 7 Nationally Seeded Louisville Cardinals square off in the night cap.
Although the competition remains stiff, Pete Hughes knows his program will focus on one game at a time. “We’re going to get locked in on Xavier right out of the gates,” Hughes said in the midst of celebration. “We’re going to figure out how we can win this tournament. These guys can feel good about themselves right now, but we’ll get out on the field to prepare and make it all about Xavier.”
