There’s no denying that Mike Gundy has been the most successful coach in Oklahoma State Football history. Sporting a 104-50 overall record as the head coach at O-State, Gundy has collected 63 conference wins. The number ranks him fourth in league history. Rewarding the efforts and product on the field, the university has upped its commitment to the coach. On Tuesday morning, OSU extended a new long-term rollover deal to the head coach.
“The new deal, subject to approval from the Board of Regents, replaces his old contract, which was set to expire in December 2019” writes Chip Patterson of CBS Sports. “Gundy is now set to make $4.2 million in 2017 with $125,000 escalators each season over the next five years with automatic rollovers — a five-year deal that will add another year to the contract for each season he completes.”
Gundy is set to join the $4 million club after making a reported $3.9 million last season. The elite club of coaches sitting at $4M or above consisted of 20 coaches in 2016. It now appears as if that number will extend to 21 in the upcoming season.
